Synopsis:
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is

I think like a lot of people like me, I am not a huge fan of science fiction. Like aliens, or space, or robots, or anything like that. So, I think a lot of people, I picked this book up because I heard it was so good and addicting, despite the fact that I personally am not the fan of aliens. I probably would have read it sooner, but it toke Amazon three months to send this to me (and it hurt me to wait that long). But once I got it, I read the first chapter, and even though it toke me a month to finish. And I can confirm that this book is SOOOOOOOOOO addicting. This is literally the most addicting series I have read thus far.

The writing was fantastic and it was really descriptive and it added so much depth to the character of Katy, the main character. Speaking of Katy, she was so relatable to me (and so many other people), and not by personality but also by the fact that she has a book blog. She also really did sound like a teenager, and I really appreciated that since I am a teen as well and that we don't hear the many true teenager voices in YA novels.

Now, let's talk about Daemon Black. Oh boy. I think like everyone else who read this, Daemon Black has become a fictional boyfriend of mine. But aside from that, Daemon was a hilarious character, making sarcastic and snarky remarks, like often calling Katy 'Kitten'. God, I love you Daemon. I also loved his twin sister Dee. Dee was just the sweetest thing and I would love to have a friend like Dee.
The other Luxen, well I didn't care too much for. Ash was basically a bitch and Adam and Andrew I didn't care too much for. And also the Arum were just pure evil, when we got to the part at the end where Baruck died I was like 'Yeah die!'.

I did not expect to fall in love with this world and the Luxen/Arum rivalry. Like I said earlier, I am not a huge fan of Sci-Fi and aliens, but this book I just loved it as much as one of my other favorite series, like Lunar Chronicles or Legend. It might not make it into my top five favorite series at this point, it is definitely in the top ten.

I gave Obsidian 5/5 stars in the end. I loved this book and series a whole lot thanks to Jennifer L. Armentrout's addicting writing style, the amazing world she created, the awesome characters, and her relatable protagonist. I will not be continuing on with this series for a while so I can marathon the rest around the release of Opposition.
