The Fault in Our Stars Movie Review!

I don't think many people know this, but I am actual a HUGE fan of film. And when we get book-to-movie adaptions, I of course get excited and depending on how good I think the trailers are, I will have hope. I am hoping that I will be able to do movie reviews for If I Stay, the Maze Runner, and Mockingjay Part 1 from this year, and maybe possibly the Giver.

Anyway, what did I personally think of The Fault in Our Stars movie?

 I LOVED it. The Fault in Our Stars movie was so beautiful and it definitely lived up to the book. If you have read the book was was worried that it wouldn't be a good adaption, have no fear because they kept about 97% of the book accurate. The only thing that wasn't accurate were a couple of scenes that weren't in the movie, but it was still an excellent adaption. Personally, on the book to movie adaption scale, I would rate this a 9, just below Catching Fire and above Divergent. There were barely, if not no, changes to the book and the scenes to make it flow better or keep the movie going during important scenes. It toke it's time for those and it was just perfect. The only scenes/aspects that weren't in the movie, were Hazel and Augustus selling the old swing, and when Hazel and Issac played the video game. I will say that the swing set wasn't explained when it magically disappeared when Hazel and Issac were talking. Maybe there is a deleted scene when they do sell it, but there was no explanation for the swing's disappearance.

So the adaption aspect was excellent. What about the acting?

The acting was phenomenal. Hazel's parents were just so so soooo good, as well as Augustus' parents. Issac and Peter Van Houten (I believe that's how you spell it) were really, seriously good. But, personally, I think the best performances were from the two leads, Shailene Woodleyand Ansel Elgort. They were just...I don't know how to explain it. Their performances felt so real and believable and phenomenal. Especially Shailene's acting the from the eulogy scene to the rest of the movie, like everyone else in the theater, I was either A) crying, or B) on the verge of crying, and since everyone should know by now that I am not a crier when it comes to books or TV shows or movies, I was mostly likely the latter. And I was. When Hazel was crying over Augustus' death, I didn't cry but I am in my 'sound like you're crying but you're really not' mood.

Well, since the acting was aMAZINGLy good as well the the adaption, was there anything I didn't like about the TFIOS movie?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN? IS IT POSSIBLE TO HATE ANY PART OF THIS MOVIE?

Ok, I did only really have one problem with it, and it was that a couple scenes or parts that were from the book were not in movie. I mean, if they want to keep the movie 2 hours, it's understandable, but I still would have liked to see those.

Overall, I highly recommend this movie, especially if you read the book! I would suggest reading the book first, but you can still watch the movie and then read the book and not be confused. It is the same beautiful story just on the love between two people who have cancer, and if you at least a teenager and haven't read this book yet, you must. I would the give the TFIOS movie 4.5/5 stars.
