Synopsis:

Oh my god. I have a lot to say about this story. Now, before I continue this review, I'm just going to state that I didn't hate this book. I enjoyed it, but there are 4 big reasons why this story didn't click with me completely.

Firstly, my main problem is the lack of any background on the main character, or any of the characters really. Yes, the information that Chloe and her family are vampire hunters and her mom's history before Chloe was born was interesting, And I think that the lack of any hard background on Chloe like what's her life like, who's her best friend, how she does in school despite she and her mom constantly move, and questions like that. I would have liked if there was a prequel from Chloe's POV on what happened before the beginning of the story or her mom's POV of the same situation.

Secondly, the lack of any emotional connections that I felt with this story. I don't think many readers realize this, but one of the main reasons that we read books and stories is because of the emotional aspect that we feel to the story or plot or characters or anything in the story. But when I was reading this, I just felt like I was just reading and envisioning what was going on. I didn't feel too much and I think that it also connects with the lack of background on Chloe honestly.

Thirdly, the lack of any huge descriptions. I felt like the author was just rushing the story just to finish it and make it short. Like in the end, I wish that there would have been some description of why Chloe loves books and the library, but we get only like half an ebook page of that scene, and I would have loved to here any love of reading or books but we didn't get any of that. I think better descriptions would have made me like the story more, but we unfortunately didn't get it.

And lastly, the fact that I found this to be too short. Sure, I like it when authors don't drag books out, but I felt like that it would have been better if all the short stories in this series would have been one book (and not a binding of all 6 short stories).

However, I did like the story idea (despite the fact that it reminded me of City of Bones) and how she didn't know she was a vampire hunter and that (And I'm going to sound cruel when I say this) I liked how Chloe saw her mom die in front of her. I know it's a cruel thing to say, but it does give her a reason to want to hunt down and kill Trevor, but overall I didn't feel too much while reading this story.

In the end, I gave The Vampire Hunter's Daughter a 2/5 stars. I liked it and enjoyed the writing style, but the lack of any major background on the character(s), lack of emotional connection, lack of descriptions, and how short it is makes the priority of reading Part 2 very very low.
