Top 14 books of 2014

Wow, another year has come and gone. I am excited for this next year where many things will happen and I will read so many books, some I will hate and most I will at least like. But today, we are talking about my top 14 books of 2014.
Because some of these books are going to be hard for me to place in my order of absolute favorites, I'm just going to list my favorites through the year in the order which I read them in. I do have a disclaimer that there is still some time left in the year and I may end up finishing another book or two before it ends, so it might change.

1. Prodigy by Maire Lu

This was my first read of the year, and oh boy, am I glad I read this as my first book. It was fast-paced and had so much action that I just kept on turning those pages until I reached the last one and was like 'I NEED TO READ CHAMPION NOW'. And I did immediately after this one and I was not disappointed with it, but at the end of the day Prodigy was my favorite of the trilogy and was a great first book of the year.

2. Hourglass by Myra McEntire
Wow. This book, I absolutely loved Hourglass. If I had to pick a top three for my favorite books of 2014, this would be on that without a doubt. This book was hilarious and had such an intriguing and captivating plotline and I am wondering as to why I haven't picked the sequels up yet. Hopefully I will in 2015.

3. Cress by Marissa Meyer

This was such a fun book and I flew through this. There was a lot of action and romance and a little bit of humor in there and I have a feeling all of the buildup from this book and the previous ones will lead into the epicness of Winter, the last book in the series, and I am ready for that.

4. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Oh, this book was a good one. It was hilarious and mysterious and had romance and action and it was just the book for me. Psychological thriller with an unreliable narrator? Sign me up for that. I did read the sequel, the Evolution of Mara Dyer about a month ago and I enjoyed it, not quite as much as Unbecoming but as good.

 5. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
God. I absolutely LOVED If I Stay. I did it for an alphabet challenge and I chose one because it was short and I could get through it easily. It did take me some time because of reasons, but I loved every part of this book. It is, and will always be, a memorable book for me. Because it made me truly fall in love with contrmpoaries, read a story that changed me as a person, and was also my first review on this blog.

6. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
Do I even need to explain this?

7. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

This was a very sweet and heartbreaking book. It gave me all of the feels ever, both happy, giddy feels and sad, want-to-cry-my-heart-out feels. It was so amazing and beautiful and I am hoping to pick up Fangirl, actually I will pick up Fangirl next year.

8. Everything Leads to You by Nina Lacour

Oh god. I absolutely loved this book. This was another great, fantastic contemporary that was just perfect to read in June/July when I read it. It was fun, had a great coming-of-age theme embedded in this book, and it also has a main character in the film industry and it was set in Los Angeles and film is one of my favorite things ever and I want to read books that are more centered in the film world because I love it so much.

9. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Okay, so this might be the most conversational because this book got very mixed reviews. But, I loved this book so much. I just went into this with an open mind and forgetting about all of the hype surrounding this book and I ended up loving it. So I suggest that if you still have yet to read this, go into it with an open mind and forgetting every thing that you've ever heard about this book.

10. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
15798673Okay, this book took me by surprise. I had no idea what to read and I was starting to fall into a slump, so I just randomly picked this up expecting to like it. I was so wrong. I loved this so much and it was beautiful and you need to read it now.

11. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
This was a great fantasy book. For high fantasy, I haven't read a whole lot of it in 2014, out of the 51 books I've read this year, two of them were high fantasy (and it was from the same series). Nevertheless, I absolutely loved getting introduced to this series and I can't wait to continue it in the next books.

  12. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Oh my god, I loved this book so much. It is an adult book but I still read it and I absolutely loved this. It just satisfied every part of my heart, especially my nerdy one. And this is one of the few books I've read where it has a little something for everyone.

13. The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender
This was a strange and beautiful book. From page 1, it just captivated me and my heart and it is easily one of the best books I've ever read. It's my favorite book I read in 2014, and even one of the best books I've ever read, maybe even my favorite. It was just strange and beautiful and you should read it.

14. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
This was a fantastic book. Like I mentioned in my review, once I got into it I finished it. It was just such a cute and fun book that brought my spirits up and it got me out of my reading slump, so thank you Stephanie Perkins!

Before I end this, I will give out and Honorable Mention book and it is Say What You Will by Cammie McGoveren. It was such a fantastic book and you should read it asap, especially if you enjoyed the Fault in Our Stars or Eleanor and Park.

So, I hope you enjoyed this post, had a great 2014 and (unless I finish the book I'm currently reading) this should be my last post for the year. So, I will see you in 2015!
